About the Lake Washington Basketball Program

“There’s no Success Without Sacrifice”

We define success as: A piece of mind that is the direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.

Kang Boys Basketball Value of Sports:

In order to build a sound basketball philosophy we must first understand the greatest value of the sport. What is it that brings players, parents and coaches together in an athletic arena? There are many political leaders; successful businessmen that insist the most memorable lessons they learned were from sport. What is it about sport that builds strong character and instills strong basic values? Sport is a microcosm of life. The competition and adversity you endure in sport will prepare you for future life altering events. The way you play the game will shape your character for the rest of your life! Your ability to prepare and work on fundamentals has direct carry over to adulthood. The components of a solid sports program should provide you with strong values and discipline; there are so many immeasurable life long benefits to sports.

Philosophy:

Our philosophy is based on three components. We will play hard, we will play smart, and we will play together. If all three of those components are met, the game will be fun!

Hard: In order to play hard we will be a well conditioned team that will out work our opponent. Giving second and third effort at all times, we will out hustle our opponent.

Smart: Playing smart will require an understanding of what we are trying to accomplish on the court. Learning in practice and applying it in game situations.

Together: We want our team functioning as one. Athletes sacrifice for the good of the team. Every player on the team is a role player, with no role to big or to small. If the above components are met the game should be fun for the athlete, parents, coaches, and the fans. We are trying to create an attitude of family where players will come back and stay in touch with the program long after their playing days are over. If the above criteria is met the learning experience should be a positive one.
